Carbon Monocoque for the WHZ Racing Team

In context of a diploma project at a University in Zwickau, the automated winding process was assessed regarding feasibility and economic efficiency during the production of a non-rotationally symmetric monocoque. This component was then produced at CGB and is now incorporated in the vehicle of the WHT Racing Team.

For assessing the mechanical properties, innovative processes for FEM-calculation have been developed, for which CGB holds the exclusive rights of use. It enables CGB to transfer a simulated winding pattern, fibre by fibre, with any desired component geometry into a FEM-mesh. Using genetic algorithms, the layer structure can subsequently be optimised on this basis.
